Traces and Logs Correlation
The Trace ID can be used to navigate from the traces explorer page to logs related to that unique ID. Alternatively, the Trace ID can also be used to navigate from the Logs Explorer page to the Traces Explorer page.
The Trace ID can be located by referring to the trace sidebar.
- Navigate to the trace explorer page by going to Infrastructure > Traces.
Note: To set up trace logs, refer to Enable Traces.
- Click the trace service you would like to view. The traces sidebar appears.
- Under Service, click Show More to expand the ID information and find the Trace ID.
Navigating from Trace Explorer to Logs Explorer
The trace sidebar features navigation from the Trace Explorer page to the Logs Explorer page.
In the Trace sidebar, click on the three dots in the upper right corner to expand the options.
Click on View Related Logs. The Logs Explorer page will open. Note: To correlate between logs and traces, logs must have the Trace ID attribute.
Navigating from Trace Details to Logs Explorer
Alternatively, you can navigate to the Logs Explorer page from the Trace Details.
In the Trace sidebar, click on the three dots in the upper right corner to expand the options.
The Trace Details page appears.
In the upper right corner, click View Related Logs. The Logs Explorer page will open.
Navigating From Logs Explorer to Trace Details
The Trace ID can also be used as a filter to find logs related to the ID.
In the Logs Explorer page, click on the +Filter button in the upper left corner.
Type Trace ID into the search bar, then select “= Equals”.
Copy the Trace ID number as the value. This will filter all logs related to the Trace ID.
Alternatively, the hyperlink to the Trace ID in Log Attributes can be used to redirect to the corresponding trace details page.
